Describe Your Company

HMR Designs is one of the nation's premier event design + fabrication firms. With forty-plus years in business and a team of over one-hundred talented designers, artisans, makers and doers, HMR is your ideal partner to ideate and create any event or experiential environment.

How long has your company been in business?

We celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2019.

What are some of the services you offer that people may not know about?

Custom Fabrication - a recent example is a Snickers wrapper we just designed for a Guinness World Record sized bar which weighed in at over 3,500 lbs. and was 12 feet long.

Is there anything else you would like our members to know about your company?

We design + produce all around the U.S. frequently as well as the globe. We have events in the works in Monaco and London for 2020 so far.

What’s one thing you would do if you could go back in time?

One thing I would change if I could go back in time would be to attend the Savannah College of Art + Design like I always dreamed I would as a young person. I ended up being asked to join the Michigan State Women's Volleyball team and instead took that path - and I always wonder what I would have learned with an education that more heavily focused on the creative.

Who is one person you'd like to meet - past, present, or future?

Hands down Andy Warhol. I have read most all of his books and been to various exhibitions of his 7 times all over the Midwest including the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, A to B and Back again at AIC, Grand Rapids Art Museum and even the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, a small but mighty museum in Michigan City, IN. I can picture myself with him, Edie and the Velvet Underground hanging out in the factory in the 60's.

What is your favorite travel destination and why?

So far, South Africa. My husband and I travelled there with my best friend and her fiancé in 2018. Between Cape Town, Stellenbosch (their wine country) and Safari in Kruger National Park, it was an incredible experience of many wildly different levels of urbanism, terrain and even terror (those lions had me STUNTED).
